THE PROJECT AT A GLANCE

MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE AGRI-FOOD SYSTEMS

AgroGreen SUDOE aims to design and propose sustainable management strategies for crops in southwestern Europe, with a special focus on fertilization and irrigation of the main crops.

Objectives of the program

Conserve and protect the environment and promote efficiency of resources.

01
Strengthen the cooperation of SUDOE natural space managers through the development and application of joint methods.
02
Conserve and protect the environment and promote resource efficiency.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

Co-design, evaluate and propose sustainable agricultural management strategies for crops in South-West Europe.

01
Involve the most relevant actors (male and female farmers, water management agencies and policy makers) in the joint design of options for the sustainable management of agricultural resources aimed at increasing their sustainability.
02
Evaluate the environmental sustainability of co-designed resource management practices regarding water and air quality within the agricultural-river-sea zone continuum. Environmental sustainability will implicitly include socioeconomic through the co-design of management scenarios with regional and actor sensitivity through the direct participation of end users.
03
Develop and implement a virtual and dynamic tool to share the knowledge generated and support decision-making processes related to the management of agricultural and landscape resources within protected natural areas, in order to increase the sustainability of agroecosystems in the SUDOE space.

Task groups

The project is structured in six large task groups, each coordinated by one of the beneficiary partners. The results of the different task groups will converge in the creation, as a final product of the project, of a web tool that allows interested actors to evaluate the potential environmental impact of agricultural practices on water and the atmosphere in the continuum of agricultural areas. -River waters of the hydrographic basins of the SUDOE space.

01

Multi-Actor Platform

Joint design and evaluation, with stakeholder and region sensitivity, of sustainable management and management options for agricultural resources.

02

Construction and harmonization of databases

Agroecosystem management activities, water resources management, nutrient balance and agro-environmental impacts on soil, water and atmosphere.

03

Modeling platform

It allows exploring the potential impact of agricultural management scenarios on air and water quality in the agricultural-river zone continuum.

04

Selection of driving scenarios

Selection of agroecosystem management scenarios to increase their sustainability.

05

Agri-environmental impact visualization tool

For the evaluation of the potential environmental impact of agricultural practices on water and the atmosphere.

Governance

Coordination of a wide network of diverse entities.

Committees

Management
Committee

Directed by the Coordinator, it is the main body responsible for making coordination, management and technical decisions to ensure coordination between the Task Groups (GT) and the correct progress of the project and the achievement of its objectives.

Transfer and Capitalization
Committee

Composed of partners from the three countries, capable of transferring the results of the project to public policies in the management of agri-food and environmental resources.
Subcommittees

Technical
Subcommittee

It brings together the leaders of the different Task Groups, and its function is to ensure the proper functioning of the different results and products of the GTs.

Subcommittee on
dissemination

Ensure compliance with the Communication Plan.

Sustainable development
goals (SDG)

It ensures the alignment of the activities and products of the project with the SDGs.

Gender
Commission

Made up of representatives from the three countries, it ensures that the communication products and tools developed are gender sensitive and that the role of women in agriculture is made visible.
